Eating out in Tenerife
Being an island, Tenerife does seafood very well, when you know where to look! Being part of Spain, there are still plenty of tapas around, but in Tenerife, immerse yourself in a little traditional cuisine, gorgeous buttery 'papas arrugadas' (wrinkled potatoes) 'empanadas' a south american influenced little pasty and the island's famous ' pollo con ajo' (garlic chicken).
Other little gems for a more authentic flavour:
Almagrote - a spicy cheese spread
Garbanzas - Chickpea stew...often cooked with Chorizo
Conejo con Salmorejo - Rabbit stew...very delicious
BEER
The beer to be drunk here is locally brewed and much loved 'Dorada'- when ordering ask for 'caña' it's cheaper than a bottle.
WINE
Tenerife does fruity wine really well, there are many little bodegas popping up all over the island, (we know we've been to most of them, purely for research purposes, of course!)...there's even a wine museum.
